They will work with you to create a personalised oral hygiene routine that suits your individual needs and addresses your personal risks. Knowing more about good dental care can also help take away any worries you may have about visiting a dentist for any other treatments that may be necessary.
Karen loves having fun appointments with children and she finds by motivating them to have good oral hygiene from a young age, they develop good habits that will last for a lifetime.

Part of your visit to our dental hygienist includes a thorough assessment of your overall oral health.
Janet is a highly trained clinician and can diagnose and treat gum disease, screen for oral cancer, take X-Rays and provide implant maintenance.
She creates personalised oral hygiene regimens and tailored treatment plans.
Janet is interested in improving all aspects of your smile. Please ask her about tooth whitening and facial aesthetics.
Gum disease is caused by plaque that will continue to build up on your teeth and gums, causing problems such as bad breath, dental decay and erosion.
If Janet finds evidence of gum disease, she will begin to treat it by removing plaque and calculus build-up both above and below the gum line using an ultrasonic scaler and the highly effective, yet painless, Air Flow polishing system.
We treat isolated areas of stubborn disease with Periochip. This gives our patients the benefits of an easy, local non-antibiotic solution that is well tolerated and proven to be clinically effective.
She does this by looking for any unusual swellings, bumps, patches of discolouration, ulcerations, asymmetries and other abnormalities. She will also check your face, mouth, and neck for any unusual masses- particularly hard lumps of tissues- or nodules.
Janet will also ask you some health-related questions- such as history of tobacco and alcohol use, your age, history of sun exposure, etc.-to help assess your risk of developing oral cancer.
Not only does good oral hygiene affect your oral health but studies show it can significantly affect your overall health as well.
Your mouth is an excellent place to look for early signs of many diseases. For example, diabetes can be detected by mouth lesions or gum infections. There is also a strong correlation between patients with gum disease and a higher risk of having a heart attack.
Other complications that can be caused by poor oral hygiene include:
As you can see, good oral hygiene not only keeps your teeth plaque-free, it’s a good preventative investment in your overall well-being.
Janet is looking forward to caring for you in her new purpose-built surgery. She knows how important your teeth and gums are for both day to day eating and to show off your smile.
Janet says “The prettiest thing you can wear is your smile”
